No its not Alfalfa of little rascals fame and notAlfred E Newman of Mad Magazine fame...Lauren Hutton comes immediately to mind....I know i have a photo of my daughter emily sans one then two teeth but not in this post.The mystery is solved by my link...Everyone I ask to photograph (particularly women) are certain that they don't take ..or make rather...good pictures ..But as Leonardo demonstrated with his Mona Lisa and and in our own Natl. Gallery's   Genievre di Benchi  all the mystery of life can br contained in a woman's smile ..or lack thereof. I have so many good smile photos that I find I must continue this thread..Most of us have seen the ape's simian smile and teeth baring described  as an expression of non agression (friendship) as well as a thinly veiled threat or at least one of confidence. I remember people saying my infant son(and daughter) wasn't actually smiling but just having a reaction to gas or "the vapors" i always felt diferently ...like that tiny mind and mouth already knew the source of their own happiness... Ultimately whatever its primeval origins it is by far the best face the world presents to us in most of its forms ...unless modified by such attributes as sardonic or false or evil ...like thee deveel as Mike Myers had a way of puting the good dottore in his pantheon of characters ...and our children's have the least artifice,though a mother's is neck and neck for lack of guile...simply human ....

Everyone thinks they don't take good pictures ,especially the fair sex... Sometimes a joke and flattery will break the ice ,as who doesn't enjoy a well meant      compliment....  In any event a smile is always a welcome face to show to oneself ,the world and the camera ...here's a few more  i will share as i was graced  by them myself.....                                                                                                                                                  

une souris toujours trouve son trou

i bought my wife a tiny triangular box with what i thought were chipmunks on the lid (three mice ,i didn't have my glasses on obviously) nicely made of resin to resemble bone or what not.. anyways, there was this inscription inside,unbeknownst to me  (see subject line) ..now from my vague recollection of french this semed to be a french colloquialism or proverb..in which the actual words add up to a slightly(or completely) different meaning..in this case souris(smile ) was the kicker..i googled and came up with a site of proverbs relating to souris,some sexual in nature..this is french after all...but no direct translation...giving up on attempts to download a translator program  for fear of further compromising my little pc's health ..ifinally found a site to just translate to l'anglais....a mouse always finds its hole...and now you have found mine....and so it goes.....

where to begin..everything new under the sun , both hot and cold or wewly nold

 i started out as a child was the title of a comedy record (by bill cosby i think) way back in the 1960's...funny stuff...as we all start out on the particulate level we advance or progress to the point where we are an independent life hanging on by a thread ..so to speak...once that cord is cut and we enter this world ...we are already a product of both our environment (the womb) our collective past (genetics) a biological act (procreation) and hopefully the love of a mother and father...that plays out in many ways and forms not all of them that idyllic but so be it... teeny tiny feat take teeniie tiny steps and so it goes ...til your a teenager and beyond and perhaps your feet are a good bit larger (perhaps your ears and nose have minds of their own)...so this is an attempt to look at "the big picture' viewed thru my own personal "camera obscura" and all the little pictures that make up mind and matter...to end ..."the stars are matter,we're'matter but it don't matter" don van vliet aka as "capt. beefheart" ..it may be very true in some cosmic sense but all the small steps we take to save ourselves and the planet do matter........ and "you don't have to be a star baby..to be in my show as one "poet and player of musical instruments" burning spear ....put it....and finally....."and if you smile for the camera ,you know i'll love you better"steely dan...way back in the 1970's or 80's perhaps..don't care to google everything u.t.s. ..just yet

hello all ..i guess the purpose of this blog is to throw out (literally and figuratively)any and all concepts ,both old and new ,so that we may share this planet as one .... and all for one and one for all.... or we all hang together or we'll all hang separately.....it is said there is nothing new under the sun but i would prefer to think that although that may well be true ...everything is new each moment as well as the sun itself ...however a lot of fertile soil has been plowed in the past and we certainly want to look to our ancestors however distant or near as well as "boldly going where no one has before"..or as spock so aptly put it (god rest his soul)...live well and prosper...so like many a blogger i will sally forth into the void and fill this space with...nothing.... and everything. hows that for a start ? in closing i will paraphrase an american icon...mark twain...."ride a bike ,you might live!!!!!!!!!!"....and so it goes (was that vonnegut?)....certainly nick lowe on his iconic lp"jesus of cool"
